La Scala in Milan is performing Le Corsaire, arranged by Manuel Legris, a nineteenth century exemplary and one of the most thrilling and gutsy ballet productions of the period.
The expressive dance in 3 demonstrations with preamble and epilog depended on a sonnet by George Gordon Byron The Corsair. The story happens on the bank of Greece and starts in a slave market where ladies are sold. The pasha Seid has a group of concubines for which he needs to purchase the delightful Médora, who, nonetheless, loves Conrad. After the disarray about buy and burglary, freedom and detainment, love wins.
