Daniel Barenboim (born November 15, 1942) is a pianist and conductor. He is a citizen of Argentina, Israel, Palestine and Spain.

Barenboim is currently the music director of the Berlin State Opera and the Berlin State Opera, and previously served as the music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Paris Orchester and Milan La Scala. Barenboim is known for his cooperation with the West East Orchestra, an orchestra of young Arab and Israeli musicians in Seville, who strongly criticizes Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories.
