Anne-Sophie Mutter is a German violinist. Early in her career, Herbert von Karajan wrote several works for her, including Sebastian Cullier, Henry Du Tiller, and Sophia Guby Du Linna, Vitod Lutosławski, Norbert Morey, Krzysztof Penderecki, Andrei Pleven, Wolfgang Rim, John Williams, etc.
Lambert Orkis is an American classical pianist. His career is based on many different roles: Since 1988, he has been a co-pianist for Anne-Sophie Mutter’s piano and violin chamber music (mainly including Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and Shu Bert’s Sonata for Violin and Piano). In 2000, the duo won a Grammy Award for their interpretation of Beethoven’s Violin Sonata. For eleven years, Orkis has also collaborated with the famous cellist (and conductor) Mstislav Rostropovich in chamber music recitals. Through this collaboration, Rostropovich created a permanent position for Olkis, appointing him as the first pianist member of the National Symphony Orchestra during his tenure as chief conductor in Washington, DC.
