Tickets for Valery Gergiev at Teatro alla Scala in Milan

The bond between Valery Gergiev and the Philharmonic, of which he is an honorary member, has lasted since the beginning of the Russian maestro’s career. Each time he steps onto the podium, there is always a revelatory reading of one of the great masterpieces of the Russian repertoire, rendered with the clarity of colours and shapes of an image that becomes music. In the 1922 season, the Maestro returned to the orchestra’s podium together with the young pianist Mao Fujita, who performed the Piano Concerto No. 2 in G major op. 44. With his essential gesture, Gergiev knows how to dig deep into scores such as the Suite from The Fairy’s Kiss, a ballet created by the composer on the plot of Hans Andersen’s fairy tale, clearly paying homage to Tchaikovsky and the late 19th-century classical ballet.

PROGRAM:

  • PetrIl’ic Čajkovskij: Piano Concert n. 2 in sol mag. op. 44

  • Igor Stravinskij: The Fairy’s Kiss – Suite from the ballet
